^^^Thanks, Kerry, for the link.   ;)

I've always liked the song, para.  I wonder at times if George Harrison had the following song in mind when he was song writing.  Many times those professional musicians look back and continue the story lines within older songs . . .

I don't recall the singer, Scrappy Lambert, from any other songs.  The joy of this song, emotionally, is matched by the sadness of the more modern one,  illustrating a hope and joy of one generation in comparison with a younger, later one.

I think I read somewhere that the Beatles were influenced in part by the post-war beer-hall vaudeville-type singers who would give concerts say, for holidayers at Brighton Beach. Some of the melodies might have stuck in their subconsciousness. McCartney's music especially I think.

I'm not familiar with that tradition of music, para.  I guess I will have to check it out.  Hopefully there are recordings of some of this music and that it is accessible to us . . .    :)

Honey Pie is an example of it and so is When I'm 64:

Both John and I had a great love for music hall, what the Americans call vaudeville… I very much liked that old crooner style, the strange fruity voice that they used, so Honey Pie was me writing one of them to an imaginary woman, across the ocean, on the silver screen, who was called Honey Pie. It’s another of my fantasy songs. – Paul McCartney

^^^That's an interesting strain of music, para.  I will have to investigate it further . . .   :)

The Beatles' "Honey Pie" reminds me musically of their other song "When I'm Sixty Four".

When I became sixty four, I was seeing the song in a different light . . .   :D
